Service-Orientated Views (SOV)
The Service-Orientated View (SOV) is a description of services needed to directly support the operational domain as described in the Operational View. A service within MODAF is understood in its broadest sense, as a unit of work through which a provider provides a useful result to a consumer.
The MODAF service views are based on the same meta model elements as the NATO NAF v3.0 service views (with some monor extensions). However, experience in implementing service views has led to MODAF defining a different set of views. Therefore users should be aware that there will need to be a mapping between the views in the two frameworks, but that the elements modelled are the same. To enable this, an equivalency statement has been included in the definition of the MODAF SOVs.
In addition, Service elements have been added to some existing MODAF views, specifically:
- OV-2
- OV-5
- OV-6c
- SV-5
