SOA in MODAF version 1.2
The following diagram provides one summary of how services are linked to the other elements in MODAF.
Note that in MODAF v1.2, this model has a core that is the same as for NAF v3.0 but with some minor extensions. However, the implementation of Service Orientated Views is different. These differences are documented in the definitions of the MODAF Service Orientated Views.
Previous Thoughts
A previous article explained the proposed new features of MODAF related to SOA, including both view definitions and M3 extensions. It focuses on how modellers can use these new features to describe SOA-based capabilities. This article is currently available as a stand-alone document .
The article summarises developments in NATO. This largely drawn upon the paper “Extending the NATO Architecture Framework to support Service Oriented Architectures” written by Jon Keefe and Ian Bailey. The full paper is available on www.modaf.com.
